Project
Previous animal and human studies have shown that low-magnitude (i.e. having low acceleration rates), high-frequency vibrations can reverse and/or prevent osteoporosis. However, the underlying cellular and molecular regulation of this mechanosensitivity is currently unknown. My research aims to probe the mechanism by which such vibrations influence bone tissue using in vitro approaches. This study is a potentially efficient means to establish an optimal physical therapy protocol and to identify the regulatory biochemical agents of the physical signal, which serve as potential targets for pharmacological interventions of osteoporosis.
